Interactive Interpretation Sign
This 3-metre tall interpretation sign is part of a series of signs celebrating the various Research Institutes funded by the University of Bristol.
The University is a long term client of the design studio I worked for in Bristol and this piece was dedicated to the Bristol Heart Institute; the tower embodies the work of the institute and was designed to reflect the relationship between human life and nature. I was project lead and co-designer as well as coding an internal computer system to play a continuous heartbeat which can be heard by pressing your ear against the tower - a living statue!
The oak panels were also laser cut and hand-painted by myself using high gloss enamel paint as I wanted to compliment the natural grain of the wood.
